Frequently asked questions

What is the RGS Worcester Giving Day?

It is an exciting 36-hour digital giving initiative in which we ask the entire School community of alumni, staff, parents, pupils and friends of RGS to come together to raise funds that will be used to provide additional means-tested Bursary Awards at the School.

With more than £60,000 available to match donations and unlock challenge funding, it is a truly unique occasion in the School’s calendar and your gift will go even further than usual.

It will be a transformational day of giving that is all about supporting young people in Worcestershire whose lives can be changed through the power of education.

RGS Worcester’s second-ever Giving Day will take place on Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 April 2024. We’re excited for you to join us and thank you in advance for your support!

What difference will my donation make?

Your gift today will enable even more talented and ambitious children from all backgrounds across Worcestershire to attend the RGS Worcester Family of Schools when their family’s financial circumstances would otherwise prevent them joining RGS.

Gifts of all sizes when pooled together can add up to a sizeable sum. This can then be used to make a significant difference by extending the number of additional Bursary Awards that are available at RGS for young people in our community. Having a large number of generous donors demonstrates the value that we all place on the transformative power of education.

How will my donation be used?

Every donation received for the Giving Day will be used to help fund additional Bursary Awards at the School. Bursary Awards are means-tested grants that are used to cover the costs of school fees.

Donations will be paid to The RGSW and AOS Foundation which is a registered charity (no 1170217). The Foundation exists to raise funds to support RGS and its pupils. The Foundation’s Trustees will pass all funds raised through the Giving Day to the School to support additional bursary places. The funds raised in 2023 are already being used to support nine pupils who joined in September 2023.

Is my payment secure?

All donations will receive an email receipt and will be recognised on the Giving Day Donor Wall.

Why is my payment not going through?

The minimum online gift amount is £5.

Can I claim Gift Aid on this donation?

Yes! If you are a UK taxpayer and have paid as much Income Tax and/or Capital Gains tax as the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all of your donations in that tax year, The RGSW and AOS Foundation can reclaim the basic tax rate (25%) on your gift, with no extra cost to you.
